    Total Gate and Door Automation encourage customers to leave a review on Facebook, Twitter or Google. Our experience has been unrewarding with disputes about what was causing problems; agreed time of attendance (so I could be present) ignored; cost disputes which could only be resolved by me contacting a senior executive and making offers – he being happy to sit back and let the situation fester on and installation of photoelectric cells which protruded unlike the old ones with no information until I complained that the old style was still available. The last confusion surrounded warranty, with me checking with the ACCC on what I thought was a poor warranty offering by TGDA on a gate motor – I year plus another year on parts. The ACCC says consumer rights can go beyond warranty, but getting TGDA to agree on what might happen with a fault after their warranty period has proved impossible as this senior manager has said no more correspondence. In these warranty exchanges I have felt insulted – twice – and told him so but to no avail. I feel I have been treated arrogantly at times.
    Our view of this company and their treatment of me as a customer is poor. I would not recommend them. The senior executive has demanded I do not publish his name as his comments were from the company, not from him personally, and that I might defame him. Heavy handed? I suppose therefore he wants us to believe these attitudes are those of TGDA the company. Due to space constraints on Google+, I am copying just my last email on the warranty issues so people can judge for themselves. TGDA has a warning on their emails that access by others is unauthorized so I have omitted what they said. Maybe they will make them available.

    Well after three attempts on my part we have finally learned what your ‘Warranty Statement’ doesn’t say – that warranty for year two is conditional upon one service of the motor in the first year. Your Warranty Statement actually says ‘All extended warranties will be void and inapplicable where the products are not serviced in accordance with TDGA recommendations.’

    These recommendations just aren’t anywhere - not on the Warranty Statement where they should be, nor on the invoice.

    This interchange could have been avoided if your Warranty Statement had explained them rather than referring to them, or if you had explained what you now have on my first question. Instead you have wasted time making offensive and inaccurate comments about me being unable to articulate what my question was..

    It is a pity that we still do not know what your attitude will be to a fault reported after your warranty runs out as you have chosen not to follow up on my questions on this. You know my belief – that under consumer rights, a fault after your warranty will need to be fixed free of charge if it is within the period which I regard as the reasonable life of the motor, as I have explained to you.

    The reason the emails are not yielding much benefit as you say is entirely yours. You keep on raising points then dropping them as soon as I either challenge or question what you have said. Insects is one – I challenged your comment with a clip from the Ditec motor brochure which said that with the improved design these were no longer a problem. Your comment about daily use was I think meant to imply a lot of use which I showed was wrong with only some 44 hrs over 4.5 years – ignored again by you.

    My complaint about your insults about me not understanding the consumer rights and that I could not articulate a question was also ignored. Very poor behaviour, but I suppose in keeping with what I’ve come to expect from you on related matters in the recent past.
